I am a middle school special education teacher in Baltimore. I can’t wait for this book to come out. I’m planning to buy a copy for my classroom and one for the library. It will be a great resource and will stimulate my students minds and generate some good classroom conversation. And they will love the illustrations, too! Many thanks to Sandra Dutton.

I like your approach in searching for validity of our creation through the eyes of a 10-year old child. I wish you much luck with your book and I feel you have a good chance of making this into a children’s movie — parent too.

My 6 year old granddaughter is going to feel comforted by Mary Mae’s ability to combine faith with science. She already asks many questions about how the earth got here and about all the people of different colors and beliefs and how there can be so many different kinds of birds and flowers. I believe this will be a book she will enjoy for many years and one that she will share with others. Sandra Dutton has enormous sensitivity to the emotional needs of children and can, in a delightful way, address important questions in a positive way. Many thanks!

Thanks, Jane. It is exciting. And if you take I-71 down to Louisville, be sure to look at the road cuts. You can really see the strata. And like you I had memories of the shells in the rocks and wondered if it had been my imagination. But the rocks are thick with fossils.

There’s great information on the Falls of the Ohio site. And I hadn’t thought of Lake Cumberland for fossil hunting. Beautiful country–I’ve been boating down there but next time I’ll look for fossils. Thanks!

I suggest you check out the Falls of the Ohio State Park website that shows the collecting areas around the Louisville, Kentucky area: http://www.fallsoftheohio.org/collecting.html

Lake Cumberland Kentucky is another nice place to find fossils while getting out on the lake to enjoy the water.
